Upbringing and Education

There has probably never been as much information about upbringing and education as we have now, yet debates still rage on the subject. This could result in future challenges for children. We have never had so much freedom; have never had so many options. Increasingly there is more attention paid to conveying approaches to solutions rather than the solutions themselves. Is a creative, empathetic, more human person better prepared for life, than say a futuristic, rational artificial intelligence? Or do discipline and respect count more in a world of competition? At the very least,  almost everyone – parents, grandparents, pedagogues – can agree on the importance of self-confidence and independence. But which of authority, negotiation or freedom are the better basic principles is up for discussion. Furthermore, none of this takes in account time pressures, work stress and lack of sleep.
